What

If you are visiting this site, you have likely been tagged to share your "testimony" about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on your blog. Please take the time to make a blog entry that shares your testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ or an experience you have had with the Gospel.

How

  1. Create a normal blog entry, but please make your blog entry about your testimony of a truth of the Gospel or about an experience you have had in relation to the Gospel.

    • Make the title of the post informative.

    • Use wording that members of other faiths will understand.

  2. Link to at least one, and preferably more, LDS website that provides fair and accurate information about what you are discussing.

    • Link using wording that individuals who are not members of the church would search for using a search engine such as Mormon Missionaries.

    • Link to websites and videos that provide fair and accurate descriptions of the Church of Jesus Christ. You can link to many websites other than "official" church websites as long as they provide a fair and accurate description of the church.

    • Try  and link to some websites that are not already number one in the search engine rankings.  For example, link to sites other than Mormon.org and lds.org.  One way to find these types of sites is to Google common terms (i.e., Mormons) and link to fair and accurate websites that are on the bottom of the first page or on the second page of the search results.

  3. Tag (i.e., encourage) your friends to make a similar blog entry. Please encourage your friends to visit this website (possibly by linking to this website) so they understand the what, why, and how of "Testimony Tag."

    • Please tag at least 3 friends.

    • You can tag others by sending them an email and asking them to post a Testimony blog entry, by leaving a comment on their blog to post a Testimony blog entry, or by asking them in person to post a Testimony blog entry.

    • If you are tagged after you have made one Testimony blog post, please consider making another Testimony post. You can make Testimony posts as often as you feel comfortable

Why

Elder M. Russell Ballard said "May I ask that you join the conversation by participating on the Internet, particularly the New Media, to share the gospel and to explain in simple and clear terms the message of the Restoration." (See video below)

Sharing your testimony or experiences of the Gospel via a blog has three principal benefits:

  1. You increase your faith in the Gospel and stand as a witness of Christ.

  2. You help increase the faith of your readers and may interest some to learn more about the Mormon Church.

  3. You increase the likelihood that individuals searching for information about the Church on the web will be more likely to find fair and accurate information about the Church.

Even if your blog is private or not listed on search engines, you and your friends can reap benefits 1 and 2. Thus, please consider participating in "Testimony Tag" regardless of the size or makeup of the readership of your blog.

Title: I Love How Mormon Church Members Serve (posted on a private blog)

When we moved across the country to Indiana, we only knew a single person in the entire town. Thankfully, he came to help us move in. We were also very grateful that he brought with him several other men from the Mormon Church to help us move in. It's amazing to me how members of the Mormon church are so willing to serve others, even when they don't know you. It's not just on the local level either. The Mormon Church does a lot of service in the world to help people, from sending aid to victims of the cyclone in Myanmar to providing loans to poor students to attend school. I'm grateful to be a member of a Church that follows the Bible by seeking to serve others.

Title: Monthly Mormon Help—Visiting Teachers (posted on a private blog)

I am grateful that each month I have two friends that come to my house to visit me. They are my visiting teachers. These are women from my church who visit me, teach me, help me, and look out for me. They come into my home, share an uplifting Gospel message, and then stay to talk about how I am doing. I know that I can turn to them when I am in need of help. Each time I’ve had a baby my visiting teachers arranged for dinners to be brought into our home every night for an entire week. This was such a blessing to me because I didn’t have to worry about making dinner while I was recovering from delivery. I am grateful the Mormon Church not only teaches us to care for each other but also helps us take care of each other.
